Job Summary
The Judiciary Officer is responsible for handling student complaints, appeals and petitions and guiding
students to acknowledge responsibility and consequence of their actions in order to maintain a safe and
responsible campus environment. The Judiciary Officer is also responsible for administering PI’s student
disciplinary policy and liaising with local community stakeholders with problems regarding to off-campus
student behavior.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with staff and faculty to promote positive student behavior and engagement.
- Meet with students who have raised a complaint, appeal or petition to understand the background and converse, as well as the students who have allegedly violated the student disciplinary code to understand and determine the seriousness and level of involvement.
- Collaborate and liaise objectively between students and concerned parties to achieve a ways to resolve conflict in line with PI policies.
- Advise students, faculty and other stakeholders on student conduct and discipline issues; provide advice on potential legal problems and recommend appropriate actions.
- Manage the investigation of disciplinary measures and seek to implement measurement for conflict resolution.
- Gather and analyze data; submit documentation to relevant PI Committee for action.
- Document disciplinary cases, sanctions and investigations ‘ensure confidentiality and privacy of student records, in accordance with PI policies.
- Monitor and closely follow up on students with any report of unsatisfactory behavior.
- Develop and deliver outreach educational programs, as required, to educate PI members on the potential impact of their actions as well as their rights and responsibilities.
- Attend committees and refer cases to committees as necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of PI related policies and make recommendations for improvement.
- Prepare annual reports as needed.
- Perform other tasks and duties that may be from time to time required in order to meet the requirements of the role and the aims of the university.
Required Skills
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University in Higher Education, Counselling, Law or another relevant
discipline.
- Post graduate degree is preferred.
- Normally five years of experience in student affairs preferably in an education institution.
- Experience working in the area of judicial programs/affairs.
- Computer proficiency/skills.
- Fluent in English; Arabic is preferred.
